Audit Supervisor

We are a growing Bergen County CPA firm seeking an Audit Supervisor with at least 7 years of CPA-firm experience in nonprofit Organizations. We are looking for a seasoned CPA who can walk into complex client situations, take ownership, and elevate both the team and the firm. This is a leadership-minded role

About the Role

What You Will Work On

Lead audit engagements, manage staff, review, prepare, guide clients through strategic planning and be hands-on with a mix of clients in different types of nonprofit organizations that require real technical depth, including:

  • Risk assessment
  • Preparation of financial statements and disclosures
  • Uniform Guidance audits
  • Preparation of Form 990 return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax

This role does not involve:

  • Public company or SEC work
  • Big-firm siloed specialization

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff during fieldwork, review of workpapers and provide proper guidance and suggestions
  • Develop testing methodologies to evaluate the adequacy of
  • Review audit findings and recommend changes in accounting practices to improve client efficiencies through corrective action
  • Recommend corrective action and offer
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and seniors; manage workload and
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through ongoing communication and best-in-class
  • Keep current with law and accounting guidance changes as well as related compliance matters.
  • Contribute to internal process improvement and best-practice refinement.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in public Active CPA license
  • Deep knowledge in nonprofit
  • Strong background in Uniform Guidance audits
  • Strong background in Preparation of Form 990 return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax
  • Demonstrated leadership with a track record of developing staff and managing client engagements.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities without losing accuracy or
  • Solid working knowledge of Prosystem Engagement, PPC Smart Tools, ProSystem fx, QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online is a plus
